Rocking the Vote
Una amiga me dijo hoy que quizás no estén listos los votantes estadounidenses para una presidenta. Pero si Michelle Bachelet llegó al poder en Chile, un país que siempre me ha parecido más machista, pues:
• ¿Por qué no en los EEUU?
• ¿Qué opinan los chilenos de su nueva presidenta?
• ¿Hay algunos sectores de la sociedad que no confían en ella por su género?
• ¿Qué opinan ustedes de las mujeres “presidenciables” de acá: Hillary Clinton y Condoleezza Rice?

The U.S. can't have a female president for the same reason we have not had a black president yet. As much as we are "liberal" in terms of gender and racial equality, I think our subconscious biases are still strong enough to come through at the polls. I mean, despite all rational thought, we reelected Bush. As for Hillary or Condoleezza? I would vote for any man over them, even Bush for a third term. Ok, maybe I wouldn't go that far...
